Production Tools is set up in sections which help you to process your images from beginning to end. These messages can be disabled, once you are familiar with an Action. To do so, find the STOP step in the Action (usually the first step) that has the note. Un-check the box in the far left column next to
that step.

This is a set up Action fo other border Action in the ‘Finishing’ section below. Follow the instructions in the step above to set up this Action. Then, you will not play this Action, other Actions will refer to this one.

ADJUSTMENTS

Adjusting Instruction
Please make adjustments to your image for tonality and basic color correction before moving on to Retouching.

Noise Reduction Headphones NEW!
Just like it sounds. Ha. Will help to reduce noise in your image.

Rotate 90 CCW
Pretty self explanatory, don’t you think! Assign a function key to this one!

Lighten Via SCREEN 1 Third Stop
Similar to a 1/3 stop exposure increase. Works differently than a simple levels or curves adjustment as is raises all levels like an exposure would, but keeps the image from washing out like “Brightness/Contrast”.

Lighten Via SCREEN 1 Half Stop
As previous - 1/2 stop

Lighten Via SCREEN 2 Thirds Stop
As previous - 2/3 stop

Lighten Via SCREEN 1 Stop
As previous - 1 stop

D1 Magenta Remove
Removes the inherent magenta cast from skin tones.

D1x Magenta Remove
Removes the inherent magenta cast from skin tones.

D60 Magenta Remove
Removes the inherent magenta cast from skin tones.

Canon 1D Ultimate Perfection
Just makes it better.

WHAT ABOUT OTHER CAMERAS?
If you’re camera is not listed, it’s probably new enough that it doesn’t need a default color adjustment. These actions were designed for older cameras that had inherent color cast problems.

Shadow Killer Brush 2 NEW!
Paint out shadows.

KK Shadow Detail Opener
Brings out shadow detail and raises shadow values without adversely affecting highlight detail. Adjustment is targeted primarily at shadow tones.




RETOUCHING

RETOUCHING INSTRUCTION
An Action that simply describes the types of Actions in this section: Please retouch your image using the “Portrait setup” Action. Use the “Hide and Show notes” or “DELETE sticky notes” to remove the instructional note.

Portrait Setup
Automatically prepares the necessary layers for retouching portraits. Instructions for what to do with the layers are displayed as a sticky note. Use the previous Action to hide this note while you work.

Hide and Show Notes
Will toggle the visibility of instructional sticky notes.

DELETE Sticky Notes
A quick way to clear the sticky note instructions.



TWEAKING

TWEAKING INSTRUCTION
When the image has been adjusted to “normal”, please use any of the Artistic Actions from Kubota Artistic Action sets to enhance the look of your image.




FINISHING

FINISHING INSTRUCTION
Please use any number of these Actions for the little extras that you might need.

Resize to 1800 pixel plus USM
Resize to 1200 pixel plus USM
Resize to 750 pixel plus USM
Resize to 450 pixel plus USM
Resize to 425 pixel plus USM
The above will fit the image to an imaginary box with the specified dimensions. Vertical and horizontal images are the same size. It is sharpened and saved as a high quality jpg for proofing and on-screen viewing. These are designed to work in batch processes to prepare your full size originals for efficient use in slide shows and proofing.

Inside stroke of white with black border.

STEP FIVE SHARPENING

SHARPENING INSTRUCTION
Make your image sharp! KPD Magic Sharp is a long time favorite, but try the others for more or less sharpening.

Clarify Lite
Cuts the “haze” in some digital images. Adds a bit of localized contrast and gives images just a little snap.

Clarify Med
Heavier version of above.

Sharpen USM KK
A nice general sharpening setting for images 200-300 dpi.

Sharpen KPD Magic Sharp
A variation of the above.

Sharpen CH
Another sharpening variation without using USM. USM may be added afterwards if desired.

Sharpen Custom Hi Pass
Another sharpening variation without using USM. USM may be added afterwards if desired.

Sharpen Custom Hi Pass Plus USM
As above but with USM added. Great for those really soft or slightly out of focus images.

Smarter Sharp Edge Mask 2 CS2 NEW!
Sharpen the edges and not those parts you don’t want sharpened like the skin.
